Biocentrum and Globcentrum mark a new chapter in the development of Charles University’s Albertov Campus. The two modern buildings will expand the historic university campus with shared facilities for education, bringing together students, academic staff and research teams from three faculties: the Faculty of Science, the First Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics.
Both centres are based on the same principle: creating an environment where education is naturally connected with current research. While Biocentrum focuses on biological, biomedical and materials sciences, Globcentrum explores topics related to global change, the environment and sustainable development.
Together, the two centres will strengthen Albertov as a place where different scientific disciplines meet, new collaborations emerge and students gain experience in an environment that meets current international standards.
The buildings’ architecture complements the surrounding urban landscape, and their designs were selected through an architectural competition. While construction of Biocentrum is already underway, the Globcentrum project is ready for future development.
