2024: Year in Review

The year 2024 was a crucial one for the realisation of our long-anticipated Kampus Albertov project. This was due, among other things, to the decision of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to provide a subsidy 2024 from the National Recovery Plan, which draws its funds primarily from EU, but also national sources (VAT) for the Biocentrum project: the construction of a new building on Charles University’s campus at Albertov in Prague, which will consist of facilities for a medical and biomedical centre, as well as for the study of the natural sciences at the campus (the “Biocentrum project”).

A further significant historical milestone in 2024 was the signature of a contract with the Contractor for the construction project and the subsequent start of construction of the Biocentrum building on 3 April 2024. The general public can follow current progress on the construction site through a live stream on the Albertov Campus website. Work on the site has so far seen the demolition of existing buildings and the arduous work on the construction pit. A rescue archaeological dig and a thorough pyrotechnic survey were carried out in coordination with these tasks. A presentation on the progress of the Biocentrum project was made at the conference held in Prague on 16 May 2024 to mark the 2nd anniversary of the National Recovery Plan. A recording of the conference can be viewed here.

In 2025 the rescue archaeological dig will conclude and the construction of the modern Biocentrum building will continue.

We look forward to the continuing progress of the project and will regularly update you about further steps in the construction of the Biocentrum. Thank you for your interest and support.
