Construction Budget
The total estimated cost of the entire Biocentrum complex, including equipment, is CZK 5.3 billion. By the end of 2026, approximately CZK 1.5 billion will have been invested.
The subsidy program under the National Recovery Plan links funding to meeting milestones related to the start of construction for all three projects (Biocentrum, MEPHARED2, and BioPharma Hub). This condition has been fulfilled. Furthermore, it is necessary to meet the indicator, i.e., to achieve building approval with a specified minimum square meter area. According to the provider, for Biocentrum Albertov, an expert assessment of the so-called construction progress by the end of 2026 will suffice, as the minimum indicator level will be reached through the completion of MEPHARED2 (Charles University) and the BioPharma Hub at Masaryk University. These milestone adjustments have already been approved by the European Commission, and all ministries involved in the negotiations are aligned with this approach, including the currently valid schedule.
By the end of 2026, the following construction works are planned to be completed:
Demolition and removal of existing structures, along with other necessary dismantling and demolition works
Completion of most utility connections and relocations
Construction activities related to the chlorination station
Full completion of securing the construction pit, including the northern retaining wall
Complete execution of earthworks, excavation to the elevation level for the building foundation
Complete execution of the building foundation (piling, technological channels, foundation slab)
Installation of geothermal boreholes
Complete horizontal waterproofing and vertical insulation
Construction of the building’s structural frame up to the 5th above-ground floor
Installation of systems (horizontal sewerage, waste pipes, water supply, electrical wiring, HVAC, etc.) in line with construction progress
