Today, at 2 PM, was the deadline for the 2nd round of the architectural contest for the project of the completion of Campus Albertov. All six competing teams, shortlisted in the 1st round, submitted their complete projects. In the second round, the architectural studios also submitted the 3D models of projected university buildings. The jury will announce the winner during July 2016. Before the meeting of the jury, all projects will be thoroughly examined and evaluated by the cooperating experts.
The results are already eagerly expected at Charles University. As the rector, Professor Tomáš Zima, said: “Campus Albertov will be a center that should perform top scientific and medical research for both Czech and international science. Students of all programs will be invited to join. We hope the top-notch science will attract research and students from abroad, so the campus will become a live international hub for research and education. That’s why the architectural project must enable communication and mutual interaction of researchers and students, who will live, work and study at Albertov. First and foremost, they must feel good there.”
The final projects of Biocentrum and Globcentrum buildings will be presented, together with their authors, after the end of the contest, i.e. on August 1, 2016, at 10 AM at the press conference of Charles University, in the Patriot Hall of the Carolinum, Ovocný trh 3-5, Prague 1. The public can then see all projects at the exhibition in the Carolinum Cloisters (Ovocný trh 3-5, Prague 1) from December 12, 2016 till January 25, 2017. More information on the opening event will come in due time.
